We do not provide advice on your New Name as it is a very personal choice. Only you can decide.
However, these are the general tips that you may wish to consider in choosing your New Name:-
1. you may decide whether to put a New First Name (eg. John) in front or rear of your Existing Name of "Tan Ong Wee", so that you New Name in your IC will appear as "John Tan Ong Wee" or "Tan Ong Wee John". Some may wish to add a comma "," so that your New Name will read as "John, Tan Ong Wee" or "Tan Ong Wee, John".
2. if you are those that have Hanyu Pinyin name in brackets appearing in your IC [eg. Tan Ong Wee (Chen WangWei)], you may wish to remove the Hanyu Pinyin name so that you need not state them in your future official document.
3. Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) may object to your New Name for policy reasons, such as using a famous Politician's name, adoption of "Sir", "Datuk", etc. If in doubt, always contact ICA if they object to your proposed New Name. Visit ICA website at http://www.ica.gov.sg/ .
4. for auspicious reason, you may wish to engage a Fengshui Master in proposing suitable new name(s).
5. for your New Name, it is preferably not be too long as it will be tedious for you to to write your New Name in the official documents.
