	Submit Your Singapore Registration of a Trade Mark Online

Once you have submitted, subject to our confirmation of engagement, we will assist you in submitting your Trade Mark Application (as your Trade Mark Agent) to the Intellectual Property Authority of Singapore (IPOS).

	Upload Soft Format of Mark
	Note: Compulsory. Please upload a soft format of your Mark in gif, jpg, png, bmp or tif. Jpg or Jpeg format is preferred. If possible, the Mark should be approximately 480 x 480 pixels. Maximum file size is 1000KB.

	Type of Mark
	WORD MARK. The most common type of trade marks is a word mark, consisting of one or several words, e.g. McDonalds or Coca-Cola.

	DEVICE MARK. This could be just a device like the well known shell of SHELL, or a Word and a Device in combination.

	Registrable Marks
	For a Trade Markⁱ to be registered, it must be distinctive and capable of distinguishing the Goods and/or Services of the Owner from similar Goods and/or Services of other suppliers.

	A Mark to be registered may be rejected if it is a "Descriptive Mark", "Common to the Trade", "Contrary to Public Policy or Morality", "Deceptive Marks", "Identical to Earlier Marks" , "Marks that could Cause Confusion", "Identical or Similar to Well Known Marks".

	Therefore, please note that in making your application, your Mark may be rejected by IPOS at its discretion for various reasons.

	Step 1
	Deciding on the Class or Classes: You may file for registration of your mark in one or more of 45 Classes of Goods or Services
	International Classification of Goods and Services under Nice Agreement 9th Ed
	Go to the above weblink
	Upon clicking a specific Class, say Class 7, it will list all the approved list of Goods or Services within that Class

	Step 2
	Selection of Relevant Goods or Services within that Class(es): Having decided on the Class, say Class 7, you must now select which of the Goods or Services within that Class which are applicable to you.
	Go to International Classification of Goods and Services
	Click on that Class you wish to register under, and an "Indication of Goods or Services" within that Class is listed. Go through the list, and copy the items that are applicable to your registration.
	Alternatively, at the same link, select "A-Z" (alphabetical order of listing of goods or services), and select the relevant Goods or Services within that Class.

	Example
1.	Say you have narrowed the Class that you wish to register your Mark under is Class 7, i.e. Description: "Machines and machine tools; motors and engines (except for land vehicles); machine coupling and transmission components (except for land vehicles); agricultural implements other than hand-operated; incubators for eggs."

2	At the above weblink, you click on Class 7 which will reveal pages of Goods within Class 7. Go through the list of Goods carefully, and manually note down the items that you wish to protect for your Mark. For this example, you may select "Engines for Boats, Motors for Boats, Chain saws, Compressed air engines, Conveyors [machines]"
