Singapore Legal Clinic at LAW.com.sg - Singapore Law Firm and Lawyers

No Advice Over Emails / Telephone

Due to the nature of the legal profession, we apologise that we are unable to give any legal advice or opinion over emails or telephone calls. For obvious reasons, we are unable to verify your identity, nor able to peruse any relevant document or take proper instructions.

Although we understand that some users may suffer anxiety over certain legal issues faced by them, we would appreciate that they do not call our office to request for advice over telephone or emails. For initial consultation, you may utilise our LegalClinic service.

  What is LegalClinic?

Since 2003, we have operated the LegalClinic service at our office mainly for potential divorce clients, who are unsure of their legal position and wishes to seek initial legal advice from our lawyers on the various legal issues faced by them. Like visiting a doctor, a consultation fee is paid at the end of the consultation with our lawyer at our office, usually based on time-scale charges.

LegalClinic is therefore akin to visiting a medical clinic and consulting the doctor on your medical problems. Thus, if you have any legal matter or problem and wish to consult with one of our lawyers (without any obligation of engagement), and provided it is within one of our areas of practice, you may attend at our office for a LegalClinic by prior appointment to consult one of our lawyers on your legal matter.

After the initial consultation, you pay our consultation fees, and there is no obligation on your part (and on our part) to continue the engagement.

  Consultation Fees

Consultation fees for our LegalClinic range from S$100.00 for a 15 minutes' consultation (or any part thereof) (subject to a minimum consultation fee of $100.00). All disbursements and expense (such as searches and government fee) are charged separately. We do not charge Goods and Services Tax (GST). There is no other hidden costs or charges.

LegalClinic is operated strictly on an appointment basis.

Important Notes and Terms for LegalClinic
(in addition to
Legal Terms)

The costs and expense mentioned herein are for relatively simple to moderately complex matters. All charges, costs and fees quoted herein are subject to change without prior notice and subject to typographical  errors.

In general, all lawyers do not know all aspects of the laws, and usually practice within their limited areas of practice or expertise, or through further research on particular areas of law.

It is important to note that laws, regulations and policies in Singapore and elsewhere are transient, and are evolving regularly and periodically. They may be amended, revised and/or varied by statutes, subsidiary legislation, government policies or case laws.

Just like doctors, it is common that if a lawyer does not have proficient knowledge of any specific area of law, he or she may require to do further research into that area or refer the client to another lawyer.

In using our LegalClinic service, please be informed that we reserve the right not to give any opinion or advice on any issue which is beyond our solicitor's areas of practice or expertise, or where there is a likelihood of any conflict of interest, or for any other reason we deem fit.

Our advice or opinion on any legal issue may be given expressly subject to our qualification of further research. Notwithstanding the above, we reserve the right to charge a minimum consultation fee for the LegalClinic

Please note that after the initial consultation for the LegalClinic, there is no obligation on our part to continue the engagement, unless otherwise agreed between you and our firm.

If after the LegalClinic, we are engaged to continue to act with your matter, we would usually require an initial deposit (in addition to the consultation) and a Warrant to Act based on our terms.

Notwithstanding your engagement of our services, there may be extraneous circumstances, matters and/or issues arising from the matter, and we reserve the rights at our sole discretion to charge such additional charges and disbursements. Such additional costs will be based on the principle of what is fair and reasonable in the circumstances, and may take into consideration of the circumstances as set out in Rule 2(a) to (g) of the Legal Profession (Solicitors' Remuneration) Order 2003 (or as amended, revised or modified from time to time).
